Ever since I concept-ed the idea of a white Uru in 2009 I've always had the issue of liking the concept, but not the design. I finally fixed that :3
This is a sheet for use in The Big AU between myself Blazing Balck Mage and Suka
Ahadi is a bit outdated as his design has been changed a bit since then, but gives you a rough idea of the design. Mufasa and Scar's fur tone we are using for our AU isn't correct in the pictures here as they are taken from screencaps. As soon as we have pictures with the right fur tones I'll add them in. Safe to say both are lighter in colour than what is shown here!
------------------------------------------------- Why is your Uru design white? Uru means diamond and you know... diamonds are normally called white xD (at least here they are) I thought it fitting she be white.
But Uru means the card suit! I'm not sure lions know that a deck of cards is. Most likely the story teller only had a limited Swahili dictionary. That said my Uru is like a card; Red diamond(ish) marking on a white base. Can't get closer to a card than that! Where did Scars/Mufasa 's colouring come from then? Scar or Mufasa would end up either a dilute or 'normal' gene. Dilute would make the colours lighter eg Mufasa and Scar would end up with the 'normal' colour gene. A white lion parent won't give birth to a white cub unless the other parent has the white gene too. So Ahadi may not of had the white gene and it resulted in 'normal' and diluted coloured cubs. Wasn't Uru red though? Uru has never had an official design. Red is just a colour theory, the same as gold. I like white better as it makes sense from a name standpoint.
-----------------------------------------
Any more questions! Ask! You're free to disagree with the theory (just as I disagree with red/orange/gold Uru) but don't be a dick about it. :C The hate caused by the last ref sheet I uploaded of her almost made me quit the fandom.
It makes sense! I get where brown/gold Uru comes from (genetics) but white actually is much more realistic, because she could have the gold gene in her for Mufasa. Also, the white gene could show up in her descendants (for example, if Kovu has the white gene and Kiara inherited it from Simba and Mufasa, they could have white cubs.)
I personally feel Kion has some of the white gene showing. He's so light next to everyone else (and you can get 'blonde' lions which are not so white 'white lions') that I feel like that could be a reason as to why his coat is so golden. And we may be running with that idea already ;D I cant say too much, but the idea has certainly been discussed.
